Work It Girl !!! Plaid and Yellow

Happy Hump Day Guys! how are you doing, hope your week has been great so far, yea? I feel like this is the first working week of the year,  because i'm officially back to the grind this week and school started this week for my boys. For today's post, I'm continuing the 'Work it Girl Series'. The target here is to share a couple of work worthy looks to spark some work outfit inspiration, as always you can play with the looks based on your preference and lifestyle. some of the pieces are still available at the Shop in limited quantities.

I'm really enjoying these theme based posts, its a lot easier for me to plan my posts, routines and its easier for my readers to control and find exactly the kind of content they want. speaking about finding the right content, our Instagram page is buzzing with a lot of style inspiration both from me and from our ever stylish customers you need to visit or add @dressed2dnines.

What I'm wearing -  Top  - Ann Taylor and Espirit  ( available @ Dressed)|| Jacket - Ralph Lauren ||  Skirt - J crew (Sold out Dressed  ||  Pumps  - Via Spiga and Jessica Simpson (similar available @ Dressed) ||Belt -  Asos belt worn backwards
I decided to have my hair in a weave for a couple of week to protect it from the elements and change my look a bit. I have had it exposed for roughly 10 weeks, I'm actually surprised that it survived all the manipulation it went through in that period, Anyways, change they say is the only constant and I'm always up to switch things.

Enjoy the rest of your week guys and catch you soon!

ModCloth and Dressed

Hello World! Hope you are all doing great. I'm doing fab and already getting into the swing of things for year. One of my goals this year is to stay on track health and fitness wise and part of my strategy is to  catalogue my meals as often as I can, by showing their photos and nutritional content on instagram. To join me in my journey and possibly draw some inspiration in terms of meal ideas and knowing how much calories, fat, carbs and protein you might be consuming daily, then follow @dressed2dnines on instagram.

I was recently contacted by ModCloth to create a look using their 'Grand Tour Top' as part of  a challenge.
The top is a sheer button-up blouse with a simple mandarin collar and slight shoulder ruching.
I paired the top with a full midi skirt  in maroon to inject some colour, and highlight the tones in the top simply because I'm a colour loving chick. Then I added  a glam belt for some waist cinching action and extra chic factor, the skirt is voluminous and the blouse is slightly loose fitting so this helps to streamline the look. Leopard print T-strap heels for some texture, oversized sunnies and stud earrings in green for more fabulousness. Finally, I added a colourful statement necklace that has almost all the colours in the outfit to tie in the look nicely.  Now, a cute hard case clutch would also be great with this look but I was feeling this bag so much and had to use it. I really love this look and would totally wear this to a glam event as an alternative to a dress. What do you think?

Fash Pack Diva

I was enjoying creating looks with this top so much I went ahead and created 3 more looks. You can do so much more with nuetral coloured pieces such as the top.

Classy work chic

I really wanted to pair the top with a Jacket, but this look would only work if the folded sleeve of the top can fit nicely underneath the jacket.

Work to Play

Finally, a comfy look for lovers of flat shoes, I know I definitely want a hat seeing this look :).

Comfy Chic

What's you favourite looks and what would you do differently? All items used for this post are available at ModCloth, You can have a clearer view of all items on my Polyvore page.

Enjoy the rest of your day, Catch you soon!

Goodbye Old Friend, Hello New Friend....!

Happy New Year friends! Hope you all had a wonderful and restful holidays and are starting the year straightaway envisioning and projecting for a successful year.  One of the things I like about a new year is that it offers an opportunity for a fresh start. I think from the very first few days of the year we can review the past and start to make concrete plans to reset and work towards achieving all we aspire for the year. In reviewing my old friend 2013, I would say thank you Lord! for all the blessings and lessons. 2013 was a wonderful and eventful year, this was the year I started blogging actively, and sharing a bit of my business on the blog even though the blog had been in existence since mid 2011. Its been a fun, interesting, and challenging experience trying to manage a family, a business and a blog all at the same time and finding a balance between all three. However, I would not change it for anything in the world,  its been  great  learning to perfectly balance all these important aspects of my life and consistently give each of them my all.
I have seen my style evolve and grow over the course of the year, I reckon this would continue to happen and i'm looking forward to what 2014 fashion would be like on the blog. In reviewing 2013 I would like to share and take a look back at some of my outfit choices and recipes from the past year, click on links below photo to go to post.

Looking at these photos, I can tell that my style has definitely evolved and grown, but I have remained true to myself and style preferences.

And for grubs...these were the recipes

                                    Photo 7                                                                                            Photo 8                                                                             Photo 9

With regards to the food aspect, I realize I slacked a bit compared to the fashion posts,.....ok, a whole lot :). My resolve to blog more frequently is still a work in progress so a lot of improvement is expected,  I hope to do more food posts this year God willing. On a second thought, It would have been a lot tougher trying to watch my weight and cooking all those yummy recipes :), Hopefully that would change this year, I have pretty much gotten my rhythm with my portion control.
One of the  first things i'm doing with regards to maintaining a healthy lifestyle is getting right back on top of my eating habits and fitness regime this week. To get the ball rolling, I'm doing a couple of days detox and then I would take it from there, to see how that goes follow @dressed2dnines on instagram.

Finally, I would like to thank my amazing family who supported me through the year, my readers, followers and my clients.....thank you so much for your show of love and support.
As I say Goodbye to my old friend 2013.... and welcome my new friend 2014, I pray that the almighty God in his infinite mercy would grant us immense happiness,  protect us through the year, and fill us with the grace and wisdom to achieve everything we set out to achieve this year, Amen!

When I decided sometime in the second quarter of the year to attempt to blog more actively this year and share more of what I do as a business on the blog, I didn't quite anticipate the volume of positive feedback I would get .
